Dee and Steven – Wedding Number 2, A Beach Blessing in South Africa. By Jacques Lloyd

You may remember todays gorgeous couple from a wedding I posted about a month ago. Dee and Steven are one of my very own Boho Couples, whose wedding I planned last September. Earlier this year they headed out to South Africa to visit Dee’s family and while they were out there they decided to hold a second wedding for the people who couldn’t make it to the UK wedding. The wedding blessing took place on the beach close to where Dee’s mum and dad are based and as you can see from the photos taken by Jacques Lloyd it was a beautiful day!

Not content with one wedding, we decided to be greedy and put ourselves through two! There were a large group of family and friends in South Africa that couldn’t come to the UK wedding, so we decided to do something special over there. This time round we decided on a humanist style blessing on the beach in Pringle Bay, an hour east of Cape Town.

Pringle is a special place for us; Haidee’s Mum and Dad run a super (no bias) Bed and Breakfast there and we got engaged on the beach, which is one of the Western Cape’s hidden gems. We wanted to keep things short and simple but at the same time give the day a proper wedding flavour. This turned out to be fortuitous as, despite being warm and sunny it was a particularly windy day and no-one wanted to be outside in the gale for long! Dee was intent on reproducing the chocolate lips and moustache favours that we had for the UK day but other than that we had few of the stresses we endured previously and were able to leave most of the initial organisation to the Mother-in-law!

All of the guests pitched in to cook the food which made for an amazing spread. Bring-a-plate dinners are the norm in Pringle! Buoyed by plenty of delicious wine and music from local DJ Gary (who wouldn’t go home past his allotted time!) it made for a great night and a totally different experience for both us and the photographers who were able to capture a groom trying to dress a bride (badly) for the first time!

We hired a local photography team to cover the day and were very fortunate to find Jacques (and his wife Natalie who helped put Haidee’s dress on properly!) who live in the next village. Jacques and Natalie move to the UK in May and we recommend them wholeheartedly!
